Each year, the District Correspondents' Conference of UNB, the most reliable newsagency in the country, brings together its network of correspondents spread throughout every district of Bangladesh alongside the team in Dhaka under one roof, located in the Cosmos Group headquarters in the capital's Malibagh, home to the central UNB newsroom and editorial office.

Besides serving as an occasion for colleagues who work together but may go long periods without even seeing each other to catch up, each year the conference is designed in such a way as to allow journalists to get together and exchange views on the state of their profession, and discuss the future, besides some in-house sessions. The Information Minister is usually the chief guest, lending the occasion a policy perspective, and this year too was no exception, as Dr Hasan Mahmud graced the occasion with his presence. Further enriching this year's conference with their intellectual inputs were special guests Dr Arefin Siddique and Dr Shakhawat Ali Khan.
