Four struggling artistes have received donations from the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The artistes are actors Prabir Mitra, Rehana Jolly and Nuton and singer Kuddus Boyati. The four have received nineth lac taka collectively. Among them Prabir Mitra and Rehana Jolly have received twenty five lac taka each while Nuton and Kuddus Boyati have received twenty lac taka each. Among the four Rehana Jolly is suffereing from lung cancer and a broken column in her spine. The cheques were handed over on October 8 at the Prime Minister's official residence, Ganabhaban.

Actor DA Tayeb , president of Shilpi Oikya Jote and TV drama maker DA Saikat, general secretary of the same contacted the Prime Ministers' Office on behalf of the ailing four artistes. Within a week the office contacted them to handover the cheques. From the cheques the artistes would get a convenient amount every month to facilitate their treatment.

Rehana Jolly recently appealed to the Prime Minister to help her get well. Her cancer is in the first stage and according to doctors after undergoing proper treatment she can recover within a year.
