The Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh held the grand "Chinese Culture Night" special cultural event in Dhaka, on November 22, Friday.
The event was attended by nearly 300 distinguished guests, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere. Among the notable attendees were Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen; Foreign Adviser to the Bangladeshi Interim Government Md Touhid Hossain; Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan; North South University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Abdul Hannan Chowdhury; Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Shah E Alam; Daffodil Family Group CEO Prof Dr Mohammad Nuruz Zaman; Director General of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Syed Jamil Ahmed; Bangladesh-China Cultural, Economic, and Mass Communication Center President Air Vice Marshal Altaf Hossain Chowdhury; Bangladesh Nationalist Party Vice-Chairman Abdul Awal Mintoo; Association of Bangladesh-China Alumni President Ambassador Munshi Faiz Ahmad; and Cosmos Group Founder and Managing Director Enayetullah Khan.
Representatives from the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy; the Bangladesh-China Cultural, Economic, and Mass Communication Center; the Bangladesh-China Alumni Association; the Bangladesh-China Friendship Center; the Bangladesh Wushu Federation; and the Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh, as well as Chinese enterprises, overseas Chinese, teachers and students of Confucius Institutes/Classrooms, and journalists from China and Bangladesh were also present.
In his speech, Ambassador Yao Wen emphasized that regardless of changes in domestic or regional circumstances, the China-Bangladesh relationship has remained steadfast, progressing steadily in the right direction. This stable partnership has become a pillar of regional peace and prosperity. He highlighted that cultural exchange is a vital bridge connecting the hearts of the two peoples, with China-Bangladesh friendship deeply rooted in the community and benefiting both nations.
Ambassador Yao stated that China will use the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025, designated as the "Year of People-to-people Exchange," as an opportunity to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in culture, education, healthcare, sports, and youth exchanges, jointly building a brighter future.
Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, in his remarks, expressed high appreciation for China's long standing support and contributions to Bangladesh's development. He praised China as a trustworthy and sincere partner for Bangladesh.
Adviser Touhid emphasized that cultural exchange is a cornerstone and driving force of the China-Bangladesh relationship and called for deeper cooperation in all fields during this critical period of Bangladesh's transformation, aiming to elevate bilateral relations to new heights.
The "Chinese Culture Night" cultural event featured a series of highlights and stunning performances. Teachers and students from Confucius Institutes/Classrooms captivated the audience with traditional Chinese performances, including guzheng, tai chi, lion dance, Hanfu showcase, dances, and songs. Displays of Chinese intangible cultural heritage allowed guests to experience the richness of Chinese traditions up close. Chinese airlines, including Air China, China Southern Airlines, and China Eastern Airlines, showcased direct flight routes and tourism resources, drawing great interest from attendees.
China Media Group (CMG) presented Chinese cultural documentaries and clips on China-Bangladesh people-to-people exchanges translated into Bengali, offering vivid stories about China. The event coincided with the Chinese solar term "Minor Snow," and traditional seasonal delicacies such as ciba (glutinous rice cakes) were specially prepared, inviting guests to savor the unique flavors of Chinese cuisine.
Ambassador Yao Wen and Adviser Md Touhid Hossain attended the award ceremonies for the Outstanding Promotion Partner Award and the "Hello, China!" Bangladesh Children's Art Competition, bringing the event to its climax.
Amid the warm and lively atmosphere, guests celebrated the achievements of China-Bangladesh cultural exchanges, shared the joy of cultural resonance, and extended heartfelt wishes for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, jointly writing a new chapter of enduring friendship.
