The 5th Bangla Kheyal Utshob has been held on Channel i Bhaban premises in the city. Almost a hundred music practitioners took part in this year's festival that started in the evening of January 31. Among the veterans present were- Dr Nasheed Kamal, Dr Leena Taposhi Khan, Azad Rahman, Ferdous Ara, Anil Kumar Saha. On behalf of the organisers Shykh Seraj, News Director of Channel i Omar Mannan, Managing Director of Ispahani Mirzapore Tea Limited were present. The opening performance saw almost two hundred child artistes join the team of musician Azad Rahman. The song was "Jibone Cholar Path-E Tumi Theki Shath-E".
Some senior singers also lent their voices for the song. All the participants dressed in white sang along to the tune of Kheyal Music. Shykh Seraj said, "The most significant feature of Bangla Kheyal Utshob is that pupils from different musical institutions take part in it." Azad Rahman said, "This kind of arrangement is essential for practice of free thoughts and conscientiousness. It is notable that songs from every parts of the Indian sub-continent have touch of classicism."
In the overnight performances ten troupes took turns to present music with their hundred participants. The festival ended on yesterday morning.
