The 3rd solo painting exhibition of artist Md Abdul Guffar Babu titled 'Pixel of Emotion' is underway at La Galerie of Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD), Dhanmondi in the capital.
The inaugural ceremony of the two-week exhibition was held on February 8 at the gallery premises, where the noted art enthusiast and chairman of Gallery Cosmos and Cosmos- Atelier '71 Enayetullah Khan was present as chief guest.
Professor Abul Barq Alvi of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka was present as the guest of honour during the opening ceremony.
Emotions are complex. They change due to the physical and mental states of every human being. Some theories posit emotion as a syndrome of elements that includes motivation, feeling, behaviour, and physiological changes - but the expanse of emotion is so vast as to be almost intangible.
Art is a medium to express emotions in visual form. The artist tries to reflect on his canvas the emotional changes people go through in their daily lives due to socioeconomic and political conditions and hardships or any other factor. Md Abdul Gaffar Babu believes these 'frames' may somewhat express emotion in the breadth of its definition.
The exhibition remains open to all until February 22 and can be visited according to the following schedule: Monday to Thursday from 3 pm to 9 pm, Friday and Saturday (9 am to 12 noon and 5 pm to 8 pm respectively); closed on Sunday.
