Enayetullah Khan, Editor-in-Chief of United News of Bangladesh (UNB), has been officially invited by Russian News Agency TASS and the Secretariat of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) to represent Bangladesh at the 19th OANA General Assembly, scheduled to take place in Saint Petersburg.
The General Assembly, OANA's highest decision-making body, will bring together delegates from 41 news agencies across 33 countries to address key challenges in today's media landscape. Panel discussions will focus on credibility, digital transformation and the growing need for transparency and accountability.
Reflecting on the invitation, Enayetullah Khan said, "It is an honour to represent Bangladesh at such an important forum. As the media ecosystem evolves at an unprecedented pace, we must place greater emphasis on truth, integrity and net accountability. The digital age has empowered billions, but it also brings a duty to ensure that information remains reliable and fair."
He added, "OANA plays a vital role in fostering cooperation among news agencies and upholding journalistic values across borders. In an increasingly polarised world, collaboration and clarity are more essential than ever."
Founded in 1961 in Bangkok with UNESCO's support, OANA promotes the free and direct exchange of news across the Asia-Pacific, a region that accounts for over half of the world's population and a significant share of global trade and innovation.
