Loknath devotees have been observing the traditional 'Rakher Upvas' or 'Kartik Brat' for hundreds of years. Loknath had instructed to observe fast in the month of Kartik and to burn incense in the ashram premises including lighting of ghee lamps to save oneself from cholera and leprosy. This is performed every Saturday and Tuesday from 15th to 30th of Kartik every year. After fasting all day, prayers start in the evening.
