Renowned filmmaker Tanvir Mokammel has been invited to Japan where his feature film 'Jibondhuli' and documentary film 'Bastra Baalika' will be screened at an event, scheduled to take place on January in 2020. In association with Bangladesh Journalists/Writers Forum, Japan Bangladesh Society and Sheple Neer, the event will be organised by the Sacred Heart Institute for Sustainable Futures.
Tanvir's feature film 'Jibondhuli' will be screened on January 24 and 'Bastra Baalika' will be screened on January 25 at the event. He will also deliver a lecture, under the sponsorship of Asian Leadership Fellow Programme (ALFP), on 'Documentary Filmmaking in Asia: Hopes and Challenges' on the same day. He is going to stay in Japan for six days.
Born in March 8, 1955, Tanvir Mokammel received Ekushey Padak in 2017. He won Bangladesh National Film Awards ten times for the films 'Nodir Naam Modhumoti', 'Chitra Nodir Pare' and 'Lalsalu'. He is the current director of Bangladesh Film Institute, located in Dhaka. Some of his other notable works to be mentioned are- 'Lalon', 'Swapnabhumi', '1971', 'Japani Bodhu', 'Seemantorekha', 'Bonojatri' and more.
