Emphasizing women empowerment and their participation in attaining SDGs, Shreya, a Facebook community of women, held a daylong summit bringing together its members and successful women.

The summit organised by Shreya Founder Sanzida Chowdhury Swarna was held at the Ballroom of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel where 10 inspiring women from different fields shared their success stories and other aspects of women empowerment in Bangladesh with some 400 participants.

In her opening speech, Shreya Founder Sanzida Chowdhury Swarna said Shreya has become more than just a facebook group.

"Shreya is playing a pivotal role in eradicating gender barriers, creating a space for women entrepreneurship especially in e-commerce and f (facebook based) commerce," she added highlighting Shreya's motive.

Women now can support the family through Facebook which is a great opportunity for them, she told the audience.

UNFPA Bangladesh Deputy Representative Eiko Narita in her speech as the chief guest focused on career development choices of women.

"I think you already have it in you to be able to pursue what you want to be. You just have to make sure you hang on to it, you don't give up," she told the aspirant women entrepreneurs and members of Shreya.

Visual Artist, Women in Leadership (WIL) President and Bangladesh Brands Forum Director Nazia Andaleeb Preema said, "It is a lifelong journey to become what we want to be."

"We (women) don't realize how powerful we are," she said stressing the urgency of working as a whole.

She also said, "Life is very short. We have very limited time. We need to gather our whole power and strength to become what we want to be in this limited time.'

Preema also shared early days of her career and urged every woman to stand up for themselves to achieve their goal.

Director Chayanika Chowdhury mourned the death of NusratJahan Rafi.

"I think women who have the will, love for work and honesty in themselves, nothing can restrict them," she said while speaking about women in media industry.

Gala Makeover Studio founder Navin Ahmed gave emphasis on dedication saying, "In life nothing comes easy to you. Nothing is handed down. You have to go and get it."

Navin shared experiences about her startup in makeup industry and highlighted the importance of cooperation. "Women actually help women grow," she added.

Former Director of Tracing, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Monowara Sarker, who is also the winner of Henry Dunant award, shared her working experiences as a volunteer to help the injured during the Liberation War.

Director of Making Development Effective Proma Parmita gave a presentation on professionalism highlighting the necessity of learning workplace rules to thrive in corporate world.

First Officer of Biman Bangladesh Airlines SamihaTasnim Anika, Meghna Group Head of Media Mahbuba S Khanam Eva, Assistant Commissioner at Dhaka Divisional Commissioner's Office Munia Chowdhury, Rudaba Tanzin Aditi, Human Resource Director of Runner Group also spoke at the summit.

The daylong event divided in different sessions was engaging with the audience through question answer sessions and socialization.
