The winners of National Film Award 2016 have already been announced. Now the date and place of the ceremony have been revealed. The awards will be handed over on July 8 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center, Agargaon in the capital. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over the prizes to the respective winners. For films made in 2016 twenty-eight winners have been selected in twenty-five categories.
Earlier Habib, the proposed winner in the Dance Director's category claimed that he has not worked in the film "Niyoti" for which the award was decided. The original dance master of the song "Dhakai Shari" in the film is an Indian named Joyesh Pradhan. Habib claimed that he was even bribed by Jaaz Multimedia, the production house behind the film to get the award after his name.
The full list of awardees for the National Film Award 2016 was published on April 5. The list is dominated by Amitabh Reza Chowdhury's debut film "Aynabazi." The film has won in seven categories including best director. However the best film award goes to Tauquir Ahmed's "Oggatonama." After Aynabazi the second film to lead the award in terms of number of categories is Nader Chowdhury's "Meyeti Ekhon Kothay Jabe?" The film has won in four categories. In the third position comes Oggatonama and Indian director Goutam Ghoshe's joint production with Bangladesh "Shankhachil." n
