Dhaka University Zoom Literary and Cultural society, an organisation of indigenous students, celebrated Fulbiju at university's Jagannath hall today. A rally was also brought out from Jagannath hall under the leadership of DU VC Prof. Akhtaruzzaman in this regard.
Fulbiju marks the start of three days of celebration and rituals through which the indigenous peoples of Bangladesh say goodbye to the outgoing year and usher in a new one.
Prof. Akhtaruzzman was present in the celebration programme as the chief guest while Jagannath Hall provost Dr. Mihir Lal Saha, Zoom Literary and Cultural society president Ratul Tangchangya and general secretary Nukhowai Marma were present along with other members of the organisation.
Besides, a colorful procession led by the Vice-Chancellor was taken out from Jagannath Hall on the occasion.
Prof. Akhtaruzzaman said in order to achieve the goal of sustainable development, the culture of each and every community shall must be preserved and practiced.
Marking the traditional cultures as universal, the Vice-Chancellor said that respective authorities shall come forward to preserve the cultural festivals and heritage.
Wishing the well-being of all citizens of the country, he said, "Every festival has a humanitarian appeal and I hope these cultural festivals will play an important role in establishing inter-relationships between people."
