Fifth edition of 'Dhaka international Folk Fest (DIFF)', the biggest ever folk music festival of South Asia, is going to be held on November this year at Bangladesh Army Stadium, Kurmitola in the city. Starting from November 14, the festival will last up to November 16. 'Sun Foundation' and 'Square Toiletries' are the joint organisers of the festival. At a press meet on a folk contest named 'Magic Bauliana', the organisers have made the confirmation about the upcoming event. They also said that list of artistes to perform at the festival is almost fixed.
DIFF has been regularly held since 2015 in Dhaka. Every year many renowned folk artistes and team, from Bangladesh and abroad, perform at the festival.
Last year, around 174 artistes from 7 countries including Bangladesh gathered at the festival. Momotaz Begum, Baul Abdul Hai Dewan, Baul Kabir Shah, Arnob, Nakshikatha, Swarobanjo and Bhabna Nritya performed from Bangladesh. Apart from above mentioned names, Wadali Brothers, Satyaki Banerjee from India, The Raghu Dixit Project, Shafqat Amanat Ali from Pakistan, Majaz from Bahrain, Grammy award winner Los Texmaniacs from the USA, Dikanda from Poland and Las Migas from Spain and more internationally acclaimed folk artistes appeared on the stage of the festival last year.
