A six-day long woodblock print workshop titled 'Musicality in Wood' began at Cosmos-Atelier71 Printmaking Studio in the city's Malibagh area on Friday.
The workshop is conducted by artist Anisuzzaman, Professor of the Department of Printmaking of Faculty of Fine Arts at Dhaka University.
Eminent artist Monirul Islam, Director of Alliance Française de Dhaka Olivier Dintinger and Gallery Cosmos Director Tehmina Enayet were present at the inaugural ceremony.
Sixteen emerging artists from all over the country are participating in the woodblock print workshop.
They are ATM Abid Hasan, Avijit Mondol, Bristy Pathan, Faisal Abir, Faizul Islam, Jeny Das, MD Ashraful Alam, Md Fahad Uddin, MD Ragib Shakil Al Rafi, MD Saiful Islam, Shruti Gupta Kasana, Md Taohidur Rahman, Nabanita Chowdhury, Raju Ahmed, Shahed Hossain and Tahera Tanzim Juthi.
Artists Sourav Chowdhury and Zahangir Alom are participating in the workshop as guest artists.
The studio also intends to publish a portfolio with selected artworks of every participant derived from the workshop.
The workshop will run from 10am to 5pm every day until November 27 at the Cosmos-Atelier71 Printmaking Studio at Cosmos Centre.
