Indian Film Federation and West Bengal Tourist Corporation jointly organised a film festival titled 'Global Film Festival' for the first time on August 21. Three films from Bangladesh had been selected for the festival including the documentary titled 'Hasina: A Daughters Tale', which is a Biopic of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 'Hasina: a Daughter's Tale' was released on November 16, 2018. Directed by Rezaur Rahman Khan Piplu, the movie is a joint production of Center for Research and Information (CRI), a research organisation of Bangladesh Awami League, and Applebox Film.
The movie, 'Hasina: A Daughter's Tale'- tells the stories of tragedies, personal mementos and struggles Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Piplu Khan claims that the film is not a biopic, but the story of the daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and her sister Sheikh Rehana. The film shows how the two sisters escape the bloodbath of 15th August, 1975 after their entire family got brutally killed- and how Sheikh Hasina goes on to confront her past as well as grew confident in life. Piplu claims that while not highlighting her great leadership role, the film would show Sheikh Hasina as a fighting human spirit.
Two other movies which had been selected along with 'Hasina: A Daughter's Tale' from Bangladesh were- 'Shottah' and 'Iti, Tomari Dhaka'. 'Shottah' is directed by Hashibur Reza Kallol. On the other hand 'Iti, Tomari Dhaka' is the first omnibus movie of Bangladesh. The movie includes total 11 directors and Abu Shahed Emon is the co-coordinator of them.
