Maj Gen (Retd) ANM Muniruzzaman has been elected Chairman of the Global Military Advisory Council on Climate Change (GMACCC).
He was elected for a three-year term in its general meeting held recently.
Muniruzzaman is a founding member of GMACCC and has worked on climate security issues for many years.
He has represented GMACCC in major climate negotiations and conferences around the world.
GMACCC was created in 2009 In response to growing threats to global security and peace posed by climate change.
He is also the President of Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security Studies (BIPSS).
