The 11th Bangalore International Film Festival started on February 21. Abu Shahed Emon's second attempt at a big screen production-Iti Tomari Dhaka has been selected to contest in the festival. Emon is leading a team of eleven young directors as the Creative Producer of the film, which is the first omnibus or anthological silver screen project in Bangladesh. In the festival in Bangalore two hundred and twenty-five films from sixty countries are taking part. The festival will end today. Iti, Tomari Dhaka was given twin shows the last one held yesterday. It is contesting in the Asian Cinema section among the total fifteen sections of the festival. Indian filmmaker Debashis Mukherjee's Bhosle, Palestinian film Screw Driver, Chinese film The Rib are among the selections in the Asian Cinema Section.
Iti, Tomari Dhaka features eleven different stories about post-modern Dhaka projecting the megacity as a unique world in itself. Nuhash Humayun, Krihsnendu Chattapadhyay, Golam Kibria, Mahmudul Islam, Mir Mokarram Hossain, Rahat Rahman, Rabiul Alam Roby, Syed Saleh Ahmed Sobhan are among the team of young filmmakers.
The film was premiered last year in Busan Film Festival, South Korea. It won Best Original Screenplay in the recently concluded Jaipur International Film Festival. It has been also screened in Indonesia's Jogja Film Festival, Chennai International Film Festival among others.
