Directed by Rubaiyat Hossain, the film 'Made in Bangladesh' has been nominated for the 8th 'Asia-Pacific Screen Awards (APSA)', to be held in Australia, under UNESCO's cultural diversity category. This year, APSA is going to be held on November 21.
In the film 'Made in Bangladesh', contribution of textile industries in empowering and building the sense of self reliance among the women of Bangladesh, who are socially deprived, has been projected. Ups and Downs in life of female workers has also been depicted in the movie. It is the third film from Rubaiyat. Earlier, she made two feature films- 'Meherjaan' and 'Under Construction'. Starrers of 'Made in Bangladesh' are Rikita Nandini Shimu, Novera Hossain, Deepanwita Martin, Parvin Paru, Mayabee Maya, Mostafa Monwar, Joyraj, Wahida Mallik Joly and others. Jointly produced by Bangladesh, France, Denmark and Portugal, the film is being financed by Norway's Sorfond Plus, France's CNC fund, Denmark's Danish Film Institute fund and others.
Earlier in this year, the film was screened at 5th 'BFI London Film Festival' after the world premiere at 'Toronto International Film Festival'. Rikita Nandini Shimu won the best actress award for the film at 'Le Festival de Saint-Jean-de-Luz', held in France. The film received a financial reward at last year's 'Locarno Film Festival' for its screenplay.
