Veteran music composer and music director Alauddin Ali has been admitted to Intense Care Unit (ICU) and placed under seventy-two hours observation. In the night of January 25 the eight times National Award winner has been put on life support. He was rushed to the Impulse Medical College and Hospital, Mahakhali where he has been kept since then. He has pneumonia and also lung cancer.

His wife Farzana Ali Mimi has said that Alauddin Ali was feeling unwell throughout the day on January 25. At night his conditions deteriorated alarmingly. She further added that the musician could not swallow the news of Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul's death. Throughout the day he kept talking about it and would not come down despite repeated attempts to pacify him. Due to mental tensions finally his health conditions dropped alarmingly at night.

Doctors have said that infection has spread to his blood vessels. But the positive side is that as of 5pm yesterday he did not require any form of life-support equipment. Doctors can give final reports after three days.

Alauddin Ali was diagnosed with cancer in 2015 after which he took several times in Bangkok. He is record holder
