Rahat Fateh Ali Khan sings a Bangla song


Celebrated singer of the subcontinent Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has sung a Bangla song for the first time in his career. Titled as ‘Tomari Naam Lekha’, the song is written by a Bangladeshi lyricist named Rabiul Awal. Music is composed by a Pakistani artiste M. Salman Ashraf. The song has been released on the YouTube channel of Salman Ashraf on November 29.

Born in Pakistan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, nephew of legendary singer Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and also the son of Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan, is one of the most felicitated singers of Ghazals and Qawwalis throughout the world. Besides, he gave voice to numerous playbacks of Bollywood films. Magical voice and unique projection founded a strong fan base of his songs across the world. He never gave voice to a Bangla song before ‘Tomari Naam Lekha’.

The list of his notable playbacks includes- ‘Mere Rashke Qamar’, ‘Afreen Afreen’, ‘Dil Toh Bachcha Hai’, ‘Tere Mast Mast Do Nain’, ‘Teri Meri’, ‘Tumhe Dillagi’, ‘Nadamat’, ‘Malal’, ‘Sanu Ek Pal Chain’, ‘Nit Khair Mangan’, ‘Kinna Sohna Tainu’, ‘Zaroori Tha’, ‘Jag Ghoomeya’, ‘Mann Ki Lagan’ and more. Most of his playbacks and Qawwalis were written and sung by his uncle Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
