Cultural troupe Kanthoshilon has announced that a new cultural event will be held from now on a regular basis. This new addition to the city's daily cultural schedule is titled "Troimashik Abrittir Ashar." It features recitation of poetical works. The event will be held once every three months. On September 14 Kanthoshilon launched the programme at its office in New Elephant Road, Dhaka. Syed Hasan Imam was present as chief guest at the event. Also present were Golam Sarwar, president of Kanthoshilon while Mir Barkat, principal of Kanthoshilon moderated the event.
In the first session recitations were presented by Shafik Siddiqui, Ananya Goswami of Kanthoshilon; Zebunnesa Jibon of Muktadhara Sanskritik Charcha Kendra; Enayet Hossain of Katha Sanskritik Charcha Kendra; Zobayer Milon of Srutishar. They presented Brinda Abritti, a crafty, subtle recitation style.
Syed Hasan Imam said despite the complex difficulties faced when performing Brinda Abritti its practice should be continued.
Also present were Maskure Sattar Kollol, presidium member of Bangladesh Abritti Sammonoy Parishad; Rais-ul-Islam, general secretary of Kanthoshilon; Ahmedul Hasan Hasnu and Mostofa Kamal, both vice-presidents of Kanthoshilon.
Syed Hasan Imam further added that today there are a number of practicing houses for recitation in the country. "This is a very good sign. A foundation for poetry recitations is being developed. Though the standards have not yet been set, maybe the time for this is still not ripe."
