Leading cultural organisation Chhayanaut celebrated receiving the prestigious Tagore Award for Cultural Harmony with an event held at its auditorium on March 1.
Chhayanaut received the prestigious Tagore Award for Cultural Harmony for 2015, conferred by the Indian Government to individuals and organisations for contributions to promoting Nobel Laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore's works and also cultural harmony, at a programme held in New Delhi on February 18.
Chhayanaut President Dr Sanjida Khatun received the award from Indian President Ramnath Kovind at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra. Chhayanaut president Dr Sanjida Khatun, executive president Dr Sarwar Ali and Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre director Nipa Chowdhury spoke at the celebration programme.
Dr Sanjida Khatun read from her speech given at the award-giving programme in New Delhi and also evaluated Chhayanaut's contributions to promoting cultural harmony and disseminating human values through cultural practices among the young generation.
The celebration programme also featured songs and dance recitals by Chhayanuat artistes including renowned singers like Khairul Anam Shakil, Laisa Ahmed Lisa, Chandana Majumder, Rezwan Ali and others.
