A host of established poets of the country gathered at Shilpakala Academy recently to render their poems in their own style. Lab Aid Foundation organised the event titled "Chaitrabasanter Chithi" or letters for eternal spring. Though organised chiefly for poetry the event started with a dance recital.
Amongst the poets present were Muhammad Samad, Asad Mannan, Kazi Rozy, Nirmalendu Goon, Habibullah Siraji, Asim Saha, Mohammad Saqiq, Kamruzzaman Kamu. Also present were Syed Hasan Imam, Ashraful Alam, Jayanta Chattyapadhyay, Dahlia Ahmed to present their skills in recitation. Lutfor Rahman and Gazala Mahmud came last to present songs adapted from poetry.
Earlier in the opening discussion session Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed and Syed Hasan Imam gave welcome speeches. Saleha Ahmed, chairman of Lab Aid Group presided over the discussion session. Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was present as chief guest at the programme. The programme was recently held at National Music and Dance Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. The programme was dedicated to recently demised Freedom Fighter Ferdousi Priyabhashini.
The poets said "Poetry, literature that evokes a concentrated imaginative awareness of experience or a specific emotional response through language chosen and arranged for its meaning, sound, and rhythm. Poetry is the other way of using language. Perhaps in some hypothetical beginning of things it was the only way of using language or simply was language tout court, prose being the derivative and younger rival."
