Batighar has brought about a new theatrical look into the movement against British Imperial domination. The drama was staged yesterday at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital. The drama relates to an unknown corner in the history of Sepoy Mutiny in British India. Many tales of bravery by the Sepoys were noted by epoch-making novelist Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in his personal diary. After these pages of history were unearthed writer Rizia Rahman penned them down as full-fledged novel. Batighar's drama has been adapted from this novel. Muktaneel, team leader of Batighar has directed the drama.
Various characters of the drama have been played by Khalid Hasan Rumi, Sharan Biswas, Saima Kabir, Moniruzzaman Firoz, Safin Ahmed Ashru, Saddam Rahman and more. Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Noor has played the part of the narrator in the drama, in what is his first attempt in narrating.
