Under the title "Creation, Peace and Wounders", the 7th solo exhibition of noted painter Nusrat Jahan Nazlee was inaugurated on April 20 at Gallery Chitrak in Dhanmondi. About thirty artworks are on display at the exhibition.

Nusrat Jahan Nazlee is a passionate painter and she portrays the Liberation War, Language Movement, boat, heritage, still life, the eternal beauty of the motherland and flowers thru her personal observation and study. She takes enough time to produce a painting. Her paintings are time-consuming, cerebrally sound and thought-provoking. Most of her works are collage based (Clothes, locking loops, pages of diaries, torn clothes etc). She has used varied materials and natural stuffs in her paintings.

It is noticeable that Nazlee has now hooked herself with bright colours for bringing the internal articulations of concrete formations of paintings. Besides this, the painter also constantly experiments with materials. Using of lots of materials is the key element in her paintings. One of the prime causes for her experimentation is for exploring the dimension of the materials. The artist enjoys her liberty to recognise herself with her using of the materials that are apparently harmonised and technically phenomenal. She strives to proceed with a certain style that has become a personal hallmark for her works.

Nazlee is one of the earnest painters who have been consistently maintaining a significant role in the contemporary Bangladeshi art scene. Throughout her career, the artist has worked on varied themes, portraying them in her personal style and technique. Her themes have always been closely connected to the soil of Bengal and its people. Nazlee's works plunge deep into assortment of pure realistic forms. Her bold use of colours stirs up the strength, encourages an inner dialogue, conjures up raw emotions and evokes search for eternal truth and meaning for self.

The show also includes paintings that have ancient doors-windows with locks, boat, Palki (palanquin), musical instruments, a bunch of books done in shades of blue, gold, yellow, purple and brown, with flowers popping up.
