A pall of gloom descended in Rajasthali of Rangamati district, as they prepare to receive the body of Ukya Ching Marma, a student of Milestone School and College, who died in the tragic fighter jet crash in Uttara, only to return wrapped in a shroud on Tuesday.
Ukya Ching, a bright student of Milestone School and College, succumbed to his injuries at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka at around 2 am, after battling for his life following the tragic crash of a fighter jet into the school building.
The 14-year-old, who had left his remote village with dreams of higher education in the city, is now returning home in a coffin-his untimely death casting a deep pall of grief over his family and the entire community.
His loved ones are struggling to accept the loss, their cries of sorrow echoing through the hills of Rajsthali.
According to his father, Usaimong Marma, Ukya Ching suffered 100 percent burns in the incident and had been under intensive care since the crash occurred around 1 pm on Monday when the fighter jet crashed into the Milestone School and College building in Dhaka's Uttara area, leaving 31 people dead and several injured.
Ukya Ching, a student of Class 7 in the school's English medium section, was present in the building during the crash. He was among the worst affected.
Family members set off from Dhaka with his body in an ambulance.
According to his grandfather, Komhlapru Marma, the body is expected to arrive at their home in Bangalhalia Union, Rajsthali Upazila, by around 5 pm.
