Marking the "Save the Frogs Day", an art and essay competition for children was held among the students at Abinta Kabir Foundation School (AKFS), Gulshan, Dhaka. Wildlife conservation organization, WildTeam organized this event as an awareness event of Noazesh Knowledge Centre. The event was celebrated with the support of Save The Frogs Foundation, an international team of scientists, educators, policymakers and naturalists dedicated to protecting the world's amphibian species. Save The Frogs Day is the world's largest day of amphibian education and conservation action which is celebrated on the last Sunday of April.
To celebrate the day, we organized a day long program where teachers from Abinta Kabir Foundation School introduced the event with an interesting story on frogs. The key speaker was Mr Abu Sayeed Rana who gave a short presentation sharing interesting facts of frogs.
About 80 children from five classes- pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, class one and class two took part in the art competition while students of class three took part on essay competition. The theme of the competition was "Frogs!"
Of the participants, nine were selected for prizes while all of them were given stationaries within a gift pack, WildTeam sources said. Drawings by students indicate their fascination and love for frogs among the children.
