Cosmos Foundation President Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury received a warm welcome from diplomats and other distinguished personalities in Dhaka on November 7, 2022. Dr Chowdhury has recently returned to Dhaka from Singapore.
A reception in honour of Dr Chowdhury was held at the Baridhara residence of Enayetullah Khan, Founder and Managing Director of Cosmos Group. Among others, the event was attended by leading entrepreneurs, members of the diplomatic community and accomplished artists.
As Principal Research Fellow at the Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS), National University of Singapore, Dr Chowdhury has been associated with the prestigious think-tank since April 2009.
An internationally renowned analyst, he has published a number of books and written extensively on diplomatic relations, geopolitical issues, the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, often focusing on Bangladesh. He has also taught diplomacy at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in Singapore and lectured at universities and think-tanks in the US, the UK, France, Australia, the Gulf states and Southeast Asia. Dr Chowdhury had been the Foreign Advisor to a Caretaker Government in Bangladesh, and served as Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN and WTO. He was a Special Advisor to the Secretary General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
Speaking at the event, Dr Chowdhury said, "I am delighted to return home to Bangladesh, all the more because it will enable me to assist in reenergizing and reinvigorating the activities of the Cosmos Foundation. The large attendance at the dinner also reflected support and encouragement for what we plan to do."
Masud Khan, Deputy Managing Director at Cosmos Group, who hosted the event to welcome Dr Chowdhury said, "I am proud and honoured to be a part of Cosmos Foundation which was started by my father Mr. Enayetullah Khan, and look forward to being part of reenergizing activities in person in Dhaka and elsewhere. I feel happy to have hosted this welcome dinner for Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury."
