A three-day exhibition on Islamic calligraphy arts and photographs took place at the National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) last week, marking the occasion of the International Day of Islamic Art 2020.
Md Abdul Mannan Ilias, additional secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest while BSA secretary Md Nowshad Hossain presided over the inauguration event, also joined by Md. Shohel Imam Khan, deputy secretary-general of Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO as the special guest.
A total of 60 calligraphic artworks were showcased in this exclusive exhibition, featuring 30 artists. Among these artworks, 54 calligraphic paintings were illustrated by 27 students of renowned calligrapher Mahbub Murshid and his MM Art Foundation institute. Artists from the foundation including Sultana Mimi, Mahmud Ibn Mobarak and Jamil Ahmad, to name a few - arranged this special exhibition which continued from November 24-26 from 11 am till 6 pm.
