After digitally supporting the ongoing movement by school and college students, actors and other members of film and TV dramas have now practically joined the students on streets. They started gathering from the afternoon of August 1.
Amongst them actress Nowshaba, Jyotika Jyoti demonstrated with placards in front of FDC. Then they moved to Shahbagh. Nowshaba says that she now feels relieved knowing that she is actively supporting the students. Even though she had shooting schedule at Bashundhara Residential Area, her mind was restless. Other participating actors were Nowshin, SA Haque Alik, Abdullah Rana, Rownak Hasan and more.
As of August 2 many TV drama actors left their shooting tasks in Uttara and surrounding area, which is known for shooting hub. They rather joined students on streets in Uttara, because according to them demands made by the teenage students are logical. Among them were actress Nadiya, drama director Chayanika Chowdhury, actor Lutfor Rahman George, Monira Mithu, Arsha, Sagar Jahan, Nazia Haque, Sazzad Sumon and more.
Yesterday Hanif Sanket too posted a facebook post in support of the protests. He headlined his post as 'We Want Justice.' He joins the list of online protesters which includes Ayub Bachchu, Abu Shahed Emon, Masum Reza, Omar Sani, Mabrur Rashid Bannah, Obscure founder Tipu and more.
Actor Ilias Kanchan has decided to form a human-chain today from 11am to 12pm in front of National Press Club in the capital. He has asked all interested personalities to join him. The actor has taken up this initiative as a response to demands made to him via social media to join the protesting students for safety of roads. The actor himself bears the burnt of road accidents. He lost his beloved wife, Jahanara in 1993. Afterwards he took up the issue seriously and has been for the last twenty-five years been organising activities in this regard.
Earlier, actor Tausif Mahbub another active participant said in the evening of August 1 that he has seen nothing unruly in the protesting students. No one was creating chaos. There were some who are attacking transportations, but they according to him did not seem like students. Police are also not arresting anyone without reason.
Salman Muqtadir, YouTuber and actor took to the streets even before on July 30 in Abdullahpur, Uttara support of the students. It has been claimed, however that in that incident he was initially detained by the police. Police however has denied the allegation.n
