Cosmos Foundation welcomes on board Ambassador George Moose

George Edward Moose, an American diplomat who served as Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Ambassador to the UN agencies in Geneva, and Benin and Senegal, has been made a member of the Advisory Board of Cosmos Foundation.

Born in New York City on June 23, 1944, George Moose was raised in Denver, Colorado. He obtained a degree from Grinnell College and attended the Maxwell School of Syracuse University before entering the Foreign Service in 1967.

Ambassador Moose had early assignments in Washington DC, Barbados, Vietnam, and the UN in New York. Moose headed the American delegation which participated in the first Tokyo International Conference on African Development in October 1993.

In 2002, he was promoted to the rank of Career Ambassador.

He is currently teaching a course at the George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs entitled “Reinventing the United Nations” and is a fellow at the Harvard University Institute of Politics, where he leads a study group on Africa in the multilateral system.

Moose has served on the Board of Directors of Search for Common Ground since 2003.
