Celebrating the joyous festivities of Spring in flair, Gallery Cosmos organized a special daylong art event titled 'Live Drawing, Watercolour Session and Exhibition' on Saturday, February 22, at the Garden Gallery Cosmos, Baridhara in the capital.

A unique venture of Gallery Cosmos, the event featured a captivating live drawing session followed by a daylong exhibition of 10 prominent and renowned Bangladeshi artists -Biren Shome, Jamal Ahmed, Kuhu Plamondon, Kanak Chanpa Chakma, Shohag Parvez, Shahanoor Mamun, Sourav Chowdhury, and Kamruzzoha.

The artistic festivity, curated by Gallery Cosmos Director Tehmina Enayet, was also joined by several other prominent and influential personalities, including Vice President of the Cosmos Group and Executive Director of Gallery Cosmos and UNB Nahar Khan, Singapore-based Bangladeshi artist Jamil Khan, Ekushey Padak recipient art maestro Farida Zaman, Grammy-nominated eminent Nazrul exponent-singer-educator Dr Nashid Kamal, prominent fashion designer and Fashion Design Council of Bangladesh (FDCB) founding President Maheen Khan, esteemed members of Zonta Club of Greater Dhaka and others.

From 11 am to 3 pm, the artists participated in live drawing sessions by drawing a florist woman as a live model and other beautiful, picturesque elements of nature, portraying the scenic beauty of Spring on their canvases with watercolour.

The session was followed by the special exhibition from 3 pm to 7 pm, featuring all the artworks. This was joined and lauded by the art-admiring visitors where the artists interacted with prominent and enthusiastic art admirers, celebrating the togetherness of art and nature at the Garden Gallery's beautiful, picturesque venue, greeted with the first rainfall after Winter.

Regarding the event, Ekushey Padak recipient and art maestro Jamal Ahmed said, "This type of art event is essential and always refreshing as we, the artists, can exchange our artistic visions and ideas with each other." He lauded Gallery Cosmos for organizing such an event.

Kanak Chanpa Chakma, another Ekushey Padak recipient prominent indigenous artist said: "Gallery Cosmos often organizes this type of wonderful artistic ventures in this beautiful venue and I have participated in a number of these events; and I appreciate the fact that the gallery always promotes artists through this type of initiatives where we can celebrate our passion of art with each other."

Artist Kamruzzoha said: "As artists, we need to step out and embrace our beautiful nature so that we can portray the beauty through our canvasses. Gallery Cosmos often brings that opportunity to us through such amazing and beautiful events like this, and I have always enjoyed working with the gallery, just like today's live drawing session and exhibition. This type of events celebrating the majestic medium of watercolour is essential, and I wholeheartedly appreciate the efforts of the gallery behind it."

Shahanoor Mamun, another renowned artist, said: "This is a magnificent event featuring our eminent artists and respected art maestros, alongside some of our contemporary artists. I have drawn flower, a topic that I always enjoy working on; and everyone has portrayed different elements of nature through their artworks. Thanks to Gallery Cosmos for organizing this type of art events regularly, alongside its other important and influential ventures."

Hosting the event, Gallery Cosmos Director Tehmina Enayet said: "A few years ago, right after the COVID-19 pandemic, several renowned artists including our Kuhu Plamondon suggested that we hold live drawing sessions in our Garden Gallery Cosmos. In line with that, we have organized several such events over the past few years."
