It is an exciting time for artists as the Bangladesh Pavilion at the 58th International Art Exhibition 'La Biennale di Venezia' in Venice, Italy has been flagged off.
Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky along with Cosmos Foundation Chairman Enayetullah Khan inaugurated the Bangladesh Pavilion 'Venice Bangladesh' at Palazzo Zenobio on May 11 when the Venice Biennale was also kicked off.
The Bangladesh Pavilion, sponsored by Cosmos Foundation, features the powerful artworks of nine Bangladeshi modern artists under the title 'Thirst'.
"Cosmos Foundation is proud to be a sponsor of this very important art event and would like to support more such events to put Bangladesh in a more prominent position on global cultural map," said Enayetullah Khan, Chairman of the Cosmos Foundation.
The Bangladeshi artists are Bishwajit Goswami, Dilara Begum Jolly, Heidi Fosli, Nafis Ahmed Gazi, Franco Marrocco, Domenico Pellegrino, Preema Nazia Andaleeb, Ra Kajol and Uttam Kumar Karmaker. Mokhlesur Rahman and Viviana Vannucci are acting as its curators.
The Venice Biennale 2019 will continue till November 24. The title of the event is 'May You Live in Interesting Times' while its curator is Ralph Rugoff, director of London's Hayward Gallery. q
