Representatives of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation have invited colleagues from Bangladesh to attend the upcoming presidential election in Russia in March as observers.
"On behalf of Ella Pamfilova, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Russia, we invited representatives of the Central Election Commission of Bangladesh and personally Kazi Habibul Awal, Bangladesh Chief Election Commissioner, to participate as international observers in the presidential elections of the Russian Federation, which will be held on March 17, 2024," Andrey Shutov, a member of the CEC of the Russian Federation and head of the delegation, said.
"The invitation was gratefully accepted," TASS reported as shared by the Russian Embassy in Dhaka.
Shutov pointed out that the invitation was handed over during the meeting of the Russian delegation with Kazi Habibul Awal.
Earlier, representatives of Cameroon, Cambodia, Myanmar, Namibia, Serbia, Thailand, Venezuela, Zimbabwe and the CIS countries as well as foreign experts who worked at the elections in four new regions of the Russian Federation in September, received invitations to observe the presidential elections in 2024.
The Federation Council has scheduled elections for March 17, 2024.
The Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation decided to arrange the voting for three days: March 15, 16 and 17.
This will be the first three-day election for the President of the Russian Federation.
The election in Bangladesh was held in a calm atmosphere, said Andrey Shutov.
He noted that for many citizens, elections are a holiday and a very important event.
"Speaking of increased security measures, I would like to note that order and security were ensured by the law enforcement agencies as well as for international experts. This is a serious advantage, because the voters in the polling stations we visited felt safe," Shutov said.
