A five days long basic online training on Ecological Data Analysis with R, arranged by the leading conservation learning hub, Noazesh Knowledge Centre (NKC) of WildTeam from 15 July to 19 July 2020.
Training is one of the many regular events arranged by NKC. In this pandemic-plagued time it has been arranged virtually, as a result participants from different parts of the country were able to join.
A total of 15 participants who are university students and professionals from different sectors joined virtually that began on Wednesday. The training started with the welcome speech of Suraiya Islam, Intern of Noazesh Knowledge Centre (NKC).
The training session was facilitated by Dr. Subrata Sarker, assistant Professor, department of oceanography, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh. He gave a detailed presentation on the basic understanding of the ecological data analysis with R by screen sharing with all the participants. He also shared his experience with data analysis and how it is useful for conservation and planning. The participants and spokesperson had an interactive session because participants are allowed to ask their questions through their comments. In conclusion of the session Dr. Subrata discussed the importance of R in various ecological sectors.
Finally Suraiya Islam, made the closing remarks thanking Dr. Subrata and appreciating the participants' enthusiasm for asking for arranging more training programmes like GIS, conservation statistics, GPS, advanced R training, MATLAB, graphic design etc. The participants wrote their feedback on an Online training evaluation survey form, where they shared their views about the online training and acknowledged NKC's efforts to spread conservation skills.
Noazesh Knowledge Centre (NKC) is a joint initiative of WildTeam, Zoological Society of London (ZSL), and Cosmos Foundation which works to inspire and support people to cultivate awareness, knowledge, and expertise, that would allow them to successfully engage in conservation-focused research, and careers.
