The International Seakeepers Society, a non-profit organization working on the health of the world's oceans and climate, has launched its Bangladesh chapter, according to a communication received here on Tuesday.
Enayetullah Khan, editor-in-chief of United News of Bangladesh and managing director of Cosmos Group, has been named as the president of the Bangladesh chapter.
"We have created a sub-chapter called International Seakeepers Society, Bangladesh," said Julian Chang, president of International SeaKeepers Society, Asia, announcing Khan's appointment as the president of Bangladesh chapter effective from October 20.
This sub-chapter is a branch of the International Seakeepers Society, Asia and all matters arising from this sub-chapter will be adhered to and approved by International Seakeepers Society, Asia, wrote Julian Chang in his letter.
Founded in 1998 the International SeaKeepers Society focuses on the health of the world's oceans and climate.
SeaKeepers works with the boating and yachting community to take advantage of their unique potential to further marine research and raise awareness about the issues our oceans face.
The society acts as a global catalyst working with governments, scientists, industry, and other marine organizations to further its mission supporting sensible, achievable marine protection and restoration.
The SeaKeepers DISCOVERY Yachts Program is its foremost initiative and has been at the heart of programming in accomplishing its mission and goals.
The SeaKeepers team works closely with yacht owners and crew to coordinate research and outreach activities that reflect the yacht owner's ocean-related interests.
The charity's motto is Research, Educate, Protect and Restore achieved through programming streams.
The International SeaKeepers Society established SeaKeepers Asia in 2016. This expansion with a new chapter in Asia is under the leadership of Julian Chang. Operations run parallel to the headquarters of SeaKeepers in the USA.
