The overall number of global Covid cases is approaching 611 million amid a rise in new infections in parts of the world.
According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 610,723,356 while the death toll reached 6,504,981 on Tuesday morning.
The US has recorded 96,643,172 cases so far and 1,072,978 people have died from the virus in the country, both highest counts around the world.
India's daily Covid-19 caseload Monday decreased to 2,725 taking the total tally to 44,465,170 in the country, according to federal health ministry data released on Tuesday morning.
The country also logged 16 related deaths in 24 hours, pushing the overall death toll to 528,007 since the beginning of the pandemic, the ministry said.
Covid in Bangladesh
Bangladesh reported zero Covid-linked deaths and 333 cases in 24 hours till Monday morning.
With the new numbers, the country's total fatalities remained unchanged at 29,328 while the caseload rose to 2,013,094, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The daily case test positivity rate rose to 6.68 percent from Sunday's 4.93 percent as 4,999 samples were tested.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.46 percent and the recovery rate stood at 97.24 percent.
In August, the country reported 32 Covid-linked deaths and 6,689 cases.
