Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury
Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, President of the Cosmos Foundation (philanthropic arm of the Cosmos Group) in Dhaka, has been appointed a member of the Advisory Board of the International Institute for Justice and the Rule of Law (IIJ).
The Malta-based IIJ is focused on improvement of governance, mainly by training judicial sector practitioners like judges, police personnel, and prosecutors. It was founded in 2014 by twelve nations, with the help of institutions like the United Nations and the European Union.
II's Advisory Board members are carefully selected from among distinguished international personalities on the basis of their expertise, research contribution, practitioner experience, regional and global engagement.
Dr Chowdhury, a renowned strategic issues analyst and author, has been Principal Research Fellow at the institute of South Asian Studies, National University of Singapore for over twelve years. He had been the Foreign Advisor to a Caretaker Government in Bangladesh. He had also been a long-time Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York and Geneva. He has given lectures at think-tanks and universities around the world. He holds an MA and PhD in International Relations from the Australian National University, Canberra.
