Noted Hawaiian guitarist Rehana Matlub recently launched a CD titled "Sharabelar Gaan" featuring ten songs adapted from verses by the top five Bangla poets -Atulprasad Sen, Rajnikanta Sen, Rabindranath Tagore, Dwijendralal Ray and Kazi Nazrul Islam. The album is an instrumental one with melodies by the five prolific poets taken up on Hawaiian guitar. The launching ceremony of the CD was held on March 23 at Chhayanaut Bhavan, Shat Masjid Road, Dhanmondi. Rehana performed her guitar tunes live at the programme for music enthusiasts.
Journalist Khandakar Moniruzzaman, executive editor of Dainik Sangbad; Kazi Rownak Hossain, editor of monthly Sargam; Gono Sangeet artiste, Ekushey Padak recipient and cultural activist Mahmud Selim alongside noted singers Rafiqul Alam, Rebeka Sultana and Yasmin Mustari were present as guests of honour.
Hasanur Rahman Bachchu, executive president of Bangladesh Hawaiian Guitar Parishad was also present. Bangladesh Hawaiian Guitar Parishad in collaboration with Manib Shilpo-Sahittya-Sankskriti Gosthi jointly organised the event.
