Tauquir Ahmed's film Haldaa has won the Grand Prix Award at the Religion Today Film Festival in Italy. Tauquir received the award on October 10. It has been said that Haldaa competed against films from Turkey, USA, Canada, South Korea, Israel, Belgium, India and more. In total twenty-eight countries took part in the festival. This takes the number of awards won by the film in international film festivals to seven. The film has been selected in a number of more international film festivals, details of which will be revealed soon.

Haldaa casts Jahid Hasan, Mosharraf Karim, Nusrat Imrose Tisha, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Dilara Zaman in key roles. The film is about the largest natural fisheries habitat in Asia, the Haldaa river. The lives of the people earning their livelihood from the river have been portrayed in the film. The film was released in December last year in fourteen countries commercially. It has already taken part in film festivals in Russia, Italy, Kosovo, Canada, South Korea etc.

In the eighth SAARC film festival the film won four awards including best picture, in Kosovo it won Best Cinematography Award, in Dhaka International Film Festival it won best director award in the Bangladesh Panorama Section, in Dhaka University Film Society's Amar Bhasha Chalachitra Utshob it won 'Hiralal Sen Padak.'
