"Ja Ichha Tai", an autobiographical sketch by legendary actress Ferdousi Mazumder has been released. On July 6 an elaborate book-launching programme was held at the National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital. Ferdousi turned 75 on June 18. In a bid to pay proper tribute to her on her seventy-fifth year, her theatre troupe Theatre and the publishing house of the book Journeyman Books organised the event.
Present at the event were Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman; Ferdousi's husband and theatre activist Ramendu Mazumder; writer Anisul Haque; Bangla Academy Director General Shamsuzzaman Khan, theatre activist Nasiruddin Yousuff Bachchu.
The book includes insights into Ferdousi's everyday moments along with her run through stage-theatre and TV. Her university days at University of Dhaka also feature in the book.
Ramendu at the event said that Ferdousi's writing style is uniquely lucid. She has translated some books for children. He along with his family members would like her to continue writing side-by-side with acting. But Ferdousi seems to have other plans. She said that her family wants her to focus more on writing, acting and spend less time on family works and school teaching. But according to her, family chores, school and creativities are the three unmovable components in her life. She would continue with all of them. Ferdousi is also a teacher of Sunbeam school in Dhanmondi. She has also included a chapter about an unusual turn of events on her first day at the school.
She asked everyone to pray for her so that she can keep in good health and continue with her creative endeavours for the rest of her life. She also expressed gratitude to her father Khan Bahadur Abdul Halim Chowdhury, her brother the martyred intellect Munier Chowdhury and late thespian Abdullah-al-Mamun.
