Popular fusion band Chirkutt performed on June 16 at Rabindra Bhaban in Agartala. It was their second visit in India this year. Besides India, the band has previously performed in Sri Lanka, Malaysia, England and Australia. They performed songs like Duniya, Kanamchhi, Ahare Jibon and others at Rabindra Bhaban.
Chirkutt comprises Emon Chowdhury (guitar), Pavel Areen (drums), Sharmin Sultana Sumi (vocal), Didar (bass) and Nirab (keyboard).
Chirkutt began its journey in 2002. The band's popular songs include Duniya, Kanamchhi, Ahare Jibon and others. In 2018, Chirkutt bagged the Channel-i Music Award in Best Playback Music category for the song Ahare jiban. Chirkutt recorded the song for Mostafa Sarwar Farooki's film Doob.
Chirkutt's performed at SXSW-2016 in Austin, USA and South Asian Band Festival-Delhi, India, the President house concert in India-2014, India Music Week and the Jaffna Music Festival, Sri Lanka. They were also the winners of the RTV Best Band Award 2012. Chirkutt band has also embarked for a tour in Norway with Norwegian rockers Casa Murilo in 2013.
