Ayub Bachchu, a legendary figure of Bangladeshi band music, passed away at the age of 56 on October 18 last year. He was one of the individuals who have founded the base of band music in Bangladesh. He reached at the peak of his stardom in 1980s through his delightful voice and top notch guitar performance. He was the founder, vocalist, lead guitarist and music composer of the musical band 'LRB (Love Runs Blind)'.
He produced some famous songs like 'Ferrari Mon', 'Cholo Bodle Jai', 'Ekhon Onek Raat', 'Hawker', 'Ami Baro Mash Tomay Bhalobashi', 'Koshto Pete Bhalobashi', 'Rupali Guitar' and more to include.
In remembrance of him, several TV programmes were aired on different TV channels on October 18. A Quraan recitation programme and Milad Mahfil was also held at his residents both Chattogram and Dhaka on the same day.
Bachchu was born in Chattogram on August 16 in 1962. Breaking the family restrictions, he started playing guitar at his young age- which then got approved and supported by his family because of his talent. He formed his first band 'Ugly Boys' in 1977. While studying at high school, he joined the rock band 'Feelings', currently known as 'Nagarbaul' which till date is led by his longtime friend and contemporary artist James, another famous rock-legend of Bangladesh. He played in 'Feelings' from 1977 to 1980 and then he joined 'Souls', where he played guitars for ten years. He left the band in 1991 and formed his own band 'LRB'. Since its inception, the band has released critically acclaimed albums like 'Shukh', 'Tobuo', 'Ghumonto Shohore', 'Shawpno', 'Mon Chaile Mon Pabe' and more for the music lovers.
