Veteran music composer, lyricist and freedom fighter Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul has breathed his last. The musician died on January 22. He called his personal assistant, Rozen immediately after sustaining a heart-attack. Rozen rushed to Bulbul's residence and took him to Universal Medical College and Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. He has for long been suffering from heart complications. Last year he was diagnosed with eight blocks in the heart.

Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul has been one of the key witnesses at a case in War Crime Tribunal. He presented his testimony in 2012 following which his brother was murdered and he too was given death-threats.

Born in 1957 in Dhaka, Bulbul joined the Liberation War when he was barely fifteen at sector-2 under Major Haider. He joined the Freedom Fighters after his training. He along with other youths was captured by the Pakistani military while conducting reconnaissance at Cumilla-Brahmanbaria region. He witnessed mass killings at the prison camps and also faced torture himself.

Since the end of the Liberation War he has been contributing with patriotic songs for the country. In 1978 he directed music for the first time in a film titled "Megh Bizli Badol." It is said that he has worked with music for nearly three hundred films. He has been honoured with Ekushey Padak and two National Film Awards. He will be remembered for songs like- Shob Koti Janala Khule Dao Naa, Ai Re Maa Ai Re, Ei Desh Amar Sundori Rajkanya, O Majhi Paal Uraiya De, Sei Rail Liner Dhare, Majhi Nao Chhaira De and more.
