The ninth edition of Dhaka Lit Fest was recently held at Bangla Academy in the city. The festival was inaugurated on November 7 and continued till November 9.
The State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid MP was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the festival. He inaugurated the fest along with the publisher of 'Dhaka Tribune' and DLF Director--- Kazi Anis Ahmed and Sadaf Saaz, co-director of DLF Ahsan Akbar, Bangladeshi-born British author Monica Ali and Director General of Bangla Academy Habibullah Sirazi on November 7 at Bangla Academy premises.
The opening ceremony was initiated with a performance titled 'Ay Amader Angane' by the artistes of famous dance troupe named 'Shadhona'. The performance was based on Tagore's book of poem 'Brikkhoropon'.
Over 200 literary professionals, performers and intellectuals from five continents of the world took part at this year's festival. The lineup of this year featured Bangladeshi born British award-winning author and Booker Prize finalist Monica Ali, literary icon Shankar, Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Jeffrey Gettleman, historian William Dalrymple, writer Shashi Tharoor, DSC Prize-winning writer HM Naqvi, poet Tishani Doshi, novelist and the editor of the daily newspaper 'Kaler Kontho', award-winning author Swapnamoy Chakraborty, poet and journalist Mridul Dasgupta, Syed Manzoorul Islam, Kaiser Haq and Shaheen Akhtar, among others.
