A commemorative programme for late director Amjad Hossain has been held at National Press Club in the city. Organised by Jamalpur Shamajik-Sanskritik Parishad, the programme featured discussion and cultural performances on January 11. At the programme son of the filmmaker, Sajjad Hossain Dodul said he would establish a research center named Amjad Hossain Charcha Kendra at his own expenses to propagate among the young generation his father's works, contributions and pledge for struggle in support of the oppressed people. The new centre would work against spreading such misinformation.
At the programme songs written by Amjad Hossain were presented by local singers of Mymensingh. At the discussion session present as special guests were cultural personality Syed Hasan Imam, widow of the filmmaker Suraiya Akter, lawmaker and actor Farooque, filmmaker Masihuddin Shaker, thespian Mamunur Rashid, President of Bangladesh filmmakers' association Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, General Secretary of TV drama directors' Association-Directors' Guild SA Haque Alik and actress Rokeya Prachi among others. The event was presided over by Mirza Abdur Razzak, vice-president of Jamalpur Shamajik-Sanskritik Parishad. Secretary General of the parishad, Rashedul Hasan gave the welcome speech while general secretary of Mymensingh Sanskritik Forum Molla Jalal also spoke at the event. r
