3DOM ties up with Cosmos Global to set up first-ever electric vehicle assembly plant in Bangladesh
As thinking shifts from fossil fuels to all-electric, the coming decade is said to be the decade of electric cars. Keeping this most crucial aspect of e-mobility ecosystem in mind, 3DOM Inc., a Japan-based smart energy solutions provider, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cosmos Global Resources Pte Ltd (Cosmos) to launch a joint venture company (JVC) to set up an electric vehicle assembly plant in Bangladesh.
In addition to the assembly of micro mobility electric vehicles in Bangladesh, the JVC between 3DOM and Cosmos also aims to own and operate a company to lease the electric vehicles for a ride-hailing service.
Enayetullah Khan, Group President and CEO of Cosmos Global Resources, Singapore, and Andrew William Khine, CEO of 3DOM Singapore, inked the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.
The JVC marks a major milestone in cooperation between companies from Japan and Bangladesh in the area of sustainability and renewable energy, and will help Bangladesh achieve the goal of eliminating CO2 emissions by replacing combustion engine vehicles with electric vehicles. 3DOM's battery technology will help make electric vehicles more affordable.
"3DOM is delighted to have the opportunity to enter into this agreement with Cosmos," said 3DOM's President and Group CEO Masataka Matsumura. "Using 3DOM's unique Lithium Ion Battery Technology for these electric vehicles will play an important role in helping Bangladesh move towards its goal of zero carbon emissions."
"CGR is proud to partner with 3DOM in this sustainable venture, fulfilling our dream to a greener and cleaner Bangladesh," said Enayetullah Khan, Group President and CEO of Cosmos Global Resources, Singapore.
