A week-long group art exhibition featuring the paintings on the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman started on August 12. The exhibition was recently held at National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Segunbagicha in the city. The artworks had been produced by famous and promising artists from several art camps.
Shilpakala Academy organised the show as part of its month-long programmes marking the 43rd National Mourning Day. The show featured a total of 107 paintings by the artists from different genres in our country. Most of the leading and talented painters in our country took part at the workshops and produced their best outcomes.
Bangladeshi expatriate artist Shahabuddin Ahmed inaugurated the exhibition. Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor attended the inauguration ceremony as the chief guest. Besides, cultural affairs secretary Md Nasiruddin Ahmed and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy director general Liaquat Ali Lucky were present at the inaugural session. Ashraful Alam Paplu, director of Fine Arts Department of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy delivered the welcome speech.
Most of the displayed paintings are portraits of Bangabandhu and his life and dream. Some of the painters have tried to experiment on the visages of the great leader, some painters have added different motifs like greeneries, map of the country, masses of people and more. The painters feel freedom to use vibrant colours, fragmental patterns and the hues of varied shades. Some painters have tried to keep a spacious space for their paintings where face of Bangabandhu has been focused.
