Marking the occasions of the Golden Jubilee of Independence and the Birth Centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) premiered 'Gonohotta Poribesh Theatre' (Genocide Environment Theatre) festival on Friday in 64 districts.
Liaquat Ali Lucky, Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, inaugurated the festival at Meherpur Government College Campus at 6.30 p.m. State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain attended the inauguration event as the principal guest, while Meherpur Superintendent of Police Md Rafiul Alam attended as the special guest.
Meherpur District Sessions and Judge Mohammad Waliul Islam, Chuadanga 6 BGB Director Lt Col Mohammad Khalequzzaman, and Meherpur Government College Principal Prof Md Shafiul Islam Sardar were also in attendance at the event, presided over by Meherpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Mohammad Munsur Alam Khan.
After the inauguration, District Shilpakala Academy Repertory Natyadal staged the play 'Bodhon,' written and directed by Md Mehdi Tanjir, at Meherpur Government College Campus at 7 pm.
The theatrical productions, managed by the District Shilpakala Academy in each district, are being executed with the cooperation of prominent writers, directors, and performers from throughout the nation. The festival is planned and supervised by BSA DG Liaquat Ali Lucky.
