A photography exhibition entitled 'Banglar Apon Saudha' by photographer Khurshid Alam Alok is now on at the National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), Segunbagicha in the city.
February is the month of dignity and pride for the Bengali Nation. Demanding Bangla to be the national language of Pakistan along with Urdu on February 21 of 1952, some young protesters named Salam, Barkat, Rafiq, Jabbar and others sacrificed their lives in the hands of Pakistani oppressors. In honour of the martyrs of the language movement, a monument named 'Shaheed Minar' was established beside Dhaka Medical College. Every year on the occasion of International Mother Language Day, people from every sphere of the society pay tribute to the martyrs of language movement at the Shaheed Minar.
For paying homage to the martyrs of the language movement, some child artists across the various district of the country have made different miniatures of the Shaheed Minar with the help of bricks, clay, colour papers, flowers, bamboo, cloths etc. Khurshid Alam Alok, through his lens, tried to capture the picture of these miniatures created by the child artists.
In the photography exhibition 'Banglar Apon Saudha', the photographs showcase the miniatures of the Shaheed Minar created by the child artists from different districts of the country.
